The Series 4140 is a manually operated Shear-Seal 4-way valve for high-pressure fluid control. Stainless-steel construction and multiple port and flow-pattern options support demanding offshore, refinery, gas-compression and marine applications.

Service:

Oil and lubricated water; four-way directional control. Confirm media and seal compatibility for the selected configuration.

Range:

Approximate capacity: 4 GPM at 20 ft/s, 8 GPM at 40 ft/s and 12 GPM at 60 ft/s; Cv 0.95; minimum flow passage 9/32 in.

Proof Pressure | Burst Pressure:

Proof: 1.5x working pressure except return port. Burst: 2.5x working pressure except return port; return-port limit 3,000 psi (206 bar).

Options:

Standard working pressure 10,000 psi (700 bar); 15,000 psi (1,035 bar) option requires appropriate port size and type. Air pilot: 80-100 psi (5.2-6.9 bar).

Temperature Range:

-40 to +250°F (-40 to +121°C).

Piping Connections:

SAE porting standard; NPT available. Main valve: 1/4 in or SAE-4, 3/8 in or SAE-6, and 1/2 in or SAE-8. Pilot ports: two 1/4-18 NPT female.

Overpressure, Burst, Vacuum Service:

Return-port back pressure must not exceed 250 psi (17.2 bar). Pressure drop: 14 psi (0.96 bar) at 20 ft/s.

Wetted Materials:

Rotor: 400-series stainless steel; pressure seals: stainless steel; shaft: stainless steel; external components: 300-series stainless; Buna-N O-ring with PTFE backup rings.

Confirm port size and type, flow pattern, working medium and return-port rating with Mod-Tronic before ordering. The datasheet lists a maximum 250 psi return-port back pressure and a -40 to +250°F media temperature range. Standard models; confirm availability.
